~ Major Dhyan Chand Award For Lifetime Achievement In Sports is given to the players who have made special contribution in the field of sports by their excellent game and have continued their special contribution in the field of sports even after taking a break from active sports.

~ The Major Dhyan Chand Award For Lifetime Achievement In Sports is conferred by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports every year.

~ The Major Dhyan Chand Award For Lifetime Achievement is awarded to only 3 players in a year. (Year 2003, 2012, 2013, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 exceptions)

~ The winner of the Major Dhyanchand Award For Lifetime Achievement In Sports is awarded cash prizes, traditional attire, certificates and a statue. As of 2009, the amount given by the Government of India for the Major Dhyanchand Award was Rs 3 lakh. After this, in the year 2009, this amount has been increased from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh by the government. In the year 2020, it has been increased to Rs 10 lakh. Hence now 10 lakh cash, a statuette, a certificate and formal dress are provided under Dhyanchand Award.
